Responding to messages

Does anyone know if a standard member can respond to a message they receive from a gold member?? I have sent messages to standard members and I want to make sure that, if they choose to, they can respond.

If not a member you need 11 points to respond to anyone's message. Standard members cannot read emails either except from some members.

Depends on if they've paid for the upgrade. If gold members would simply read profiles they would understand alternative ways to communicate. One has to be very selective in order to preserve points. If you're more than 30 miles away, don't waste the time.

Unless it has changed standards can read and answer if the paying member has paid extra.

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth.

If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.

I am a standard member and recieved a message and was able to respond. Other messages I can not even see. Any IM I get or send I have to have points.

I am able to read and respond to messages from fans. So it is possible if you are really to tip points to the standard member. All other messages are blurred out.

This is the major reason that many people, regardless of membership status, set up private mailbox posts on their blog. Instructions and example at[blog BiggLala].

There -may- be a number of ways a gold member may have contact with a standard member.

Maybe the standard member can pay points to be able to read and respond to the gold members message to them.

Becoming a "Top fan" of a certain level -may- allow contact between the gold and standard member.

A gold member can add standard member contacts to their gold membership, for an additional fee. And that seems to work.

In some instances I use words like may, and maybe. I do so because I'm not really sure of what always actually works. Even with standard member contacts added to your gold membership - most of the time you may not receive a reply to your messages sent. A person/profile you may send a message to may be an abandoned profile. And for any number of reason of their own, they may just never bother to reply to you.

-Maybe- some standard members may not realize you have standard member contacts added to your membership, and that you are a gold member that they can have contact with. Even when you start your message (First sentence) with a statement like "You can read and reply to me without having to pay the website."

There will be no indicator to a standard member that you have standard member contacts added to your membership - unless you make that clear to them, and tell them so.

Just because you pay for what you think is a full (Gold) membership, and that you think you have full use of the website - the website isn't very open or clear that any message you send to a standard member with in essence - be held ransom. To tempt the standard member to become a gold member. Otherwise that message will be blurred out, and the standard member will never be able to read or reply to that message.

Some members such as myself pay or use 4000 points a month for the Standard member contact feature which allows 2 way conversations with standard members initiated by either the gold or standard member.

I'm able to read and answer messages but have no way of knowing whether the gold member paid for that particular upgrade or not.
