THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE AND HER LOVER In the film, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, the wife forces her husband, the thief, to eat her lover’s body prepared by the cook. It is a brilliant film, starring Helen Mirren, Michael Gambon and Tim Roth. What follows is a more gruesome real-life version of this film!  "I have always considered myself to be asexual and without gender", the Japanese artist Mao Sugiyama told reporters, "so earlier this year I arranged for my penis and testicles to be surgically removed." Initially he was going to eat his genitalia himself but then decided to offer them to others to eat. Several diners paid 20,000 yen each to eat his genitalia at a dinner party held on 13 May this year. The x-gender artist arranged for a doctor to certify his surgically removed genitalia free from infections, for a chef to prepare the food, and for diners to sign a waiver indemnifying him from prosecution. The police were informed of this dinner party but were unable to do anything as cannibalism is not illegal in Japan. Since the dinner party, people have asked him when the next dinner party is taking place, but the artist told reporters, "I have no plans for the next time, because I only had one set of genitals." Mao Sugiyama, nicknamed HC, elected to have genital removal surgery on his birthday. [image] On 8 April 2012, the 22 year old Mao Sugiyama tweeted this offer: “I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen. I’m Japanese. The organs were surgically removed at age 22. I was tested to be free of venereal diseases. The organs were of normal function. I was not receiving female hormone treatment. The length at full erection was 16.1 cm. First interested buyer will get them, or I will also consider selling to a group. Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location. If you have questions, please contact me....”

The banquet was held at the Asagaya Loft A event space in the Suginami Ward of Tokyo. About 70 people attended the event. [image] The five people who paid to eat Mao Sugiyama’s genitalia were a 30-year-old couple, a 22-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, and Shigenobu Matsuzawa, 29, an event planner. They each paid 20,000 yen – about £160 or $250 – to eat his genitalia at the banquet.

I had never heard of Mao Sugiyama- thanks! I did see the movie referenced but I don't much remember it. I LOVED "Eating Raoul"! I had no idea what the plot or theme would be when I went to the theater so it took me unaware and I laughed my ass off. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.
