FIGURE SKATING AND DISCO DANCING

Figure sorting looks more like sexual foreplay than sport!

Why is it called figure skating?
Is figure skating a sport?
If so, should disco dancing be an Olympic sport?

I cannot ice skate, but I can disco dance. I have tried ice skating a few times but each time I just held the hand rail around the ice, marvelling and cursing at the youngsters bombing around the ice. My favourite sport is ice hockey – fast, skilful and rough. This year I am going for ice skating lessons, though I think I have left it far too late to be a [professional ice hockey player!

Can you skate?
Can you disco dance?

I cannot ice skate for the life of me. And I was never into disco. (But I used to head-bang with the best of them! )

I can, however, roller-skate. As a teen, I was "hell on wheels"!

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

In my younger days I was a amateur ice dancer who was practicing for the world Figure skating competition in Vancouver. 1 Month before I tore my ligaments in my knee and it was all over for me in competition. Still love Ice Skating, though now I have to keep 2 feet on the ise at all times. Love Snow Sking now as it is not as demanding as Ice Skating

I have never roller-skated. I used to head-bang, but then disco saved me!

Netminding looks dangerous. What made you want to be a netminder facing all that rubber? x

I found netminding the safest position on the ice. The padding is thicker and I was covered from head to toe.
I also didn't have to continue ly skate up and down the ice. If things went well, I was on the ice for the whole game, not switching every 5 minutes or so.

I can now understand your cunning plan!
