A VICIOUS SPORT  Croquet is a game that involves hitting wooden balls with a mallet through hoops (sometimes called wickets in America). There are six hoops, three placed on each side of a lawn, plus one centre peg. The winner of the game is the player who first hits the ball through all six hoops in the correct order and then the centre peg. Each player takes it in turn to hit their ball. If players hit their ball through the correct hoop, or run the hoop, they gain an extra shot. Also if a player hits another player's ball with their ball, this is called a roquet. With a roquet, the player moves their ball to the ball they hit and, with the two balls touching and their foot firmly placed on top of their ball, they then hit their ball so the other ball cannons away to disadvantage the opposing player. After this shot, called a croquet stroke, the player has another continuation shot. It is very satisfying hitting a roquet and very frustrating being roquet-ed. It can get very personal. Despite its genteel image, croquet is a vicious sport. In the book Queen of Games: The History of Croquet, Nicky Smith believed that either croquet was introduced to Britain from France where paille-maille was played or that the game arrived from Ireland where crookey was played on beaches. Croquet is mostly played in Britain, as well as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. In the 1860s it was a very popular game in England, though by the 1890s the game had been eclipsed by tennis. Have you played croquet? What lawn games have you played? What’s the most vicious sport you’ve played? I enjoy playing croquet. I had a croquet set as my parent’s lawn made for a perfect croquet lawn. It’s not that easy to cheat in croquet because there are too many people looking at you but I do try! The other games I played on my parent’s lawn were football, cricket and swing ball, which is similar to the American game of tetherball. We had a croquet game when I was a kid. Don't think I have played since. I do believe I would love to play naked croquet. Would love to play a lot of games naked for that matter. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

Good afternoon to you spunky!  I "have" a croquet set....also horseshoes, bocee ball, badminton, washer toss, bolaball (oogle any games you don't know). At least one, or several are taken and played while camping! I have played soccer, football, baseball, hockey, in my younger years. Now it's board games, card games, dice games. As a youngster we played dodge ball, red rover, tag, hide & seek and "hide from Dad" when we were in trouble!  I would say hockey was the most vicious game I've played.

I played croquet occasionally at college....they had a perfect lawn!! Played lawn tennis, half hearted cricket and hockey. Hockey was the most vicious....I lost a tooth!  ~~Anais Nin~~

[image] Definitely played croquet. Lots of fun. Will have to try naked croquet soon. These girls may not be very effective at croquet but it looks like they're having a lot of fun! I've played golf (very poorly), lawn bowling, soccer (football), football (American) and frisbee golf. I play volleyball regularly and am competitive, though basketball was my sport of choice before I damaged my knees. Roughest sport by far was american football. But I did play naked coed tackle football at a nudist camp once. That was rough too, but so much more fun.

We had a croquet game when I was a kid. Don't think I have played since. I do believe I would love to play naked croquet. Would love to play a lot of games naked for that matter.

Yep, played mostly croquet and badminton while growing up. I also played (American) football with the neighborhood children, since I had the biggest backyard. It was often co-ed and full tackle Dangerous in a number of ways, you see.

I've never played lacrosse, baseball (unless rounders counts) or bocce. Rugby is the game that was most physically challenging game I've played - I was a hooker in the scrum.

I have never played croquet. I have played football (rugby league), tennis, cricket, dodge ball, tether tennis, quoits and the one where you are the soccer ball and punching bag in the one game. The last one, concussion, cracked ribs and bruised stomach and back were constant reminders of how bad I was at it.

I remember playing shinty while at school. It hurt sometimes!
