RUNNING FOR OFFICE

There is a very high chance that none of us will reach high political office because of our membership on this site.

It’s highly probable that the media would run stories to trash our reputations amongst the electorate. The security services may leak our site membership to the wider public. Other site members may perhaps sell their stories for money to newspapers. We may even be open to blackmail.

However, it hasn’t seemed to have harmed barackobama’s or angelamerkel’s political careers – see their profile photos above and below!

Sometimes I think about the consequences if it was known at work that I was a member of this site. There’s a very small chance that my employer may think I’ve brought disrepute to the organisation, though I suspect I would just be left alone subject to lots of gossip amongst colleagues.

What would happen if work colleagues found out that you were on this site?
If they don’t already know, what would happen if family and friends knew that you were on this site?
Have you ever stood for political office? Are you planning to stand for political office?

I have stood twice for elected office; both times as a local authority councillor. Twice I failed to get elected. But both times were well before I joined this site. When I joined this site a few years ago, I didn’t think that it would stop me becoming the country’s Prime Minister!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong being a member of this site or that being on this site makes members unfit for political office. But, for a small fee, I won’t tell anyone if you want to stand for political office!

What would happen if work colleagues found out that you were on this site? I am retired, so I don't worry about it

If they don’t already know, what would happen if family and friends knew that you were on this site? Most know, just not details

Have you ever stood for political office? Are you planning to stand for political office? Never have, never will. I hold politicians in such disdain currently, I would not soil my reputation. I do vote and am politically active though

Many of my work colleagues and family know that I have a blog - but I have NEVER revealed what site it is on, and will NEVER reveal my profile handle or the name of my blog.

That said - anyone who knows me and happened to come across my blog might be able to fiture out my identity - but I doubt that they would be admitting to being on this site, so I don't have much concern about being "outed".

As far as running for political office, I think the world is safe from that (even though it is one of the suggested occupations for me, based on personality quizzes and tests). I'd have no problem admitting I am a bnudist, or a blogger - but again I wouldn't want my identity on this site known. But I would be concerned about my past as a "swinger" coming back to haunt me.

Sadly, the political world will have to get along - without me.

Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.

It's irrelevant as I am retired from my proper job.

Close family and friends know I blog here...others just that I blog somewhere and I doubt they're really interested.

I wouldn't want to stand for office.

I don't flaunt it, but I don't shy away from things either. I don't think it would come as a big shock to anyone who knew me.

Could never see myself running for political office... not into the games involved.

Rory McIlroy is on a roll now, though he's got a long way to go to catch Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus up for trophies.

The work related question doesn't pertain to me at this point in my life.

I don't associate with any of my family, they don't deserve me. I'm completely transparent about my membership on this site to friends and neighbours and refuse to be ashamed of it. When people who use sites such as this stop being secretive about it, the public shame and stigma related to it will dissipate, eventually.

I never have stood for political office but if enough people nominated me to do so, I'd embrace it with gusto. I couldn't do a worse job than many of our current politicians do. I'm very politically aware, care about the issues, have strong platforms (not shoes, a strong position about most issues) and I truly believe I can repair the Australian budget without economically disabling the individuals of Australia.
I'm not secretive about being on this site but I'm not going to advertise the fact at work.
You should get involved in politics.

    I'm self-employed, so no worries.

When I was a schoolteacher it came out that I was poly when I accidentally tried to date a friend of the headmaster. It worked out fine though. It turned out that the headmaster was secretly poly as well!

Considering that people with all kinds of past histories, such as prostitutes, etc. have run for and acquired public office, I would have no qualms. Just don't lie about it. After all, most people have sex at some point in their lives.
You're right, it's the lies rather than their actions that usually catch politicians out.

The devil's in the detail. I will openly say that I write a blog but I don't go into detail where, not least because I don't want my friends reading my blog. Blogging is my space to express myself.

I don't advertise my presence here. I don't see it as having any direct relevance to my current or future employment but why provide any ammunition to anyone who might wish to use it?
Family would be both horrified and bemused and would entirely fail to understand why I'm here. Friends - not too sure I actually have any who aren't covered by the above!
I'd never stand for office. My views are rather radical and would not attract sufficient support to justify even explaining them to people.
I'd love to hear or read about your political views - a future blog post?

In the past I wanted to be a politician, but other things like work stopped my efforts. Also, it didn't help that I joined parties that had little chance of winning elections!

There's always compromise when joining a party, particularly if elected to office. I'm quite sympathetic to politicians because they often have to eat shit because that's what the public want to hear.

This corrupt site deleted my comment in reply to your response to my original comment.
I'd only get involved in politics if I was wealthy enough to be self-funding and un-corruptible... I don't think politicians should be payed. They have usually had such high-paying jobs by the time they get there that being paid and accepting perks like taxpayer-funded travel is just greedy... They are too easily swayed by large corporations due to handouts and seem to design their policies around maintaining the status quo.
---
I say your above reply on 'Where I Am Quoted' but it never showed up here.
The problem of not paying politicians is that only the very rich can be politicians. I think they be paid more so they're not fiddling their expenses and more ordinary people can be tempted to enter politics.

Great news... Every comment on every post that I've commented on over the last 3 years has been vaporized by hackers or the site's censorship staff... All my comments pre-tonight are gone.
You're right, I can't find your comments on the few my blog posts I've looked at, except for the two on this post. A mystery!
