Thought I'd stimulate some conversation by changing my main profile picture to a picture of me I used in my blog Tried it, but soooo not me since the topic of BDSM is something everyone is talking about these days. Apparently, the picture stimulated a little more than just conversation. So I'll leave it up for just a little while to see what kind of reactions and comments I get.
As I wrote in that blog and another BDSM anyone everyone, it is not something I am into. I feel like a bit of of tease posting that picture on my profile, giving the impression, that's what I like...but it's all in fun!

Valentine's Day seems to bring out the skepticism in a lot of people, especially those who have failed in relationships at one time or another in their lives.
Even though at the moment I don't seem to have any prospect of someone to be in love with...not just like a lot, I still feel that there must be a man out there that I will meet one day, who I will feel passionately about, and want to share my life with.
Unrealistically optimistic? I hope not.

Where'd They Go?

While perusing my blog for one I had written quite a few years ago, I noticed some blogs were missing the pictures I use to illustrate them. These are not new, clip art, or anything copywrited (that I was aware of). Occasionally, a picture is rejected on submittal, but I've never had old ones removed before.
I generally google a topic and find an image I feel goes well with what I had written, or sometimes I start with the picture and write with that in mind.
One of life's small frustrations...
The picture on this blog post disappeared!!!
Trying again....let's see if it stays put this time.

Made me chuckle....I've only clicked on "adult chat rooms' hundreds (in actuality thousands) of times and today thought, are there any other kind here?
To add to my amusement, when googling pictures of "woman laughing" to illustrate this post, the option came up "woman laughing with salad". Now wondering, is that a common search? At least it wasn't "tossed salad"

A recent conversation with a chatroom acquaintance brought up the discussion about reluctance to give out information before meeting. Because the woman he was planning to meet wouldn't give him personal contact info and he was unable to let her know he was running late (for a very legitimate reason). She was then under the assumption she was being stood up, and left before he arrived, 40 minutes late.
I told him I would never agree to meet someone who I hadn't had a conversation with off of A F F, on a personal email/IM, text or phone call. I also insist on receiving a face picture (current). If someone refuses, I will not agree to meet. With the ability to IM and email on cell phones I don't always find it necessary to give a phone number, but I always make sure that we can get a hold of each other if anything happens on the way to meet and usually discuss that when making plans to meet.
Agreeing to meet should mean you already like the person and have some level of trust. We all have to take precautions to meet safely, a public venue is always the best choice, make sure you are in a situation you can easily get out of, even it it's just because you misjudged and are extremely bored. But, if you are that worried about their character, so much that you can't even give an email address, why agree to meet in the first place? Presumably, you are hoping to establish a friendship and ultimately a sexual relationship....yes, people do hope to have sex (not necessarily on the first meet).
I've been doing the online dating scene many years on A F F and other sites and have no bad stories to report. Not all resulted in a second date or more, but no regrets...some sweet, some sexy and some I look back, nod my head and just have to consider amusing.

Accepting Gifts

I have been seeing someone for almost two years. It is not a serious, committed, monogamous relationship. How often we get together varies....could be every other week, but then also a month can go by before we get together again. We enjoy a lot of the same things... we are both foodies, like to travel, movies, etc. We are good friends who happen to also have sex. Not a great romance, but a very nice relationship. A great example of FWBs that actually works.
He travels a lot on business and often buys me gifts, mainly jewelry. I am appreciative, but I don't wear jewelry very often and already have a few favorite items that I have collected over the years, some with sentimental value. I feel a little guilty that I seldom wear what he buys me. I have said numerous times, please don't get me anything else, but he says he likes getting me things. BTW money is not an issue for him. So I accept graciously. I never buy him anything, he buys himself anything he can possible want. And I'm struggling financially. Which is another issue for me. Not that I would ever accept money to help pay my bills, but when he gives me something or takes me out to a dinner that would pay off some of my debts I can't help but think of the pointless extravagance. (Not that it stops me from enjoying a nice night out  )
I know others have way worse dilemmas than this. OMG, I have way worse dilemmas than this! But as the holiday and gift giving season is upon us, it's something I can't help but think about.
